Lunchtime Supervision
![]()

Our Mid-day team work hard to ensure that there are a wide variety of activities on offer to children each lunchtime. Each MDA works with a specific class for the whole year so that they get to know the children well and have a rota of responsibilities daily. Our aim is for the children to have fun as well as promoting healthy physical activity and social skills. This term we have:
A fitbod game led by a MDA each day.
Skipping club led by a MDA each day.
Using the new equipment on the field under supervision of MDA.
Pupil playleaders organising and leading games with the support of a MDA each day.
Every Tuesday 2 teachers will lead another activity with pupils at lunchtime eg. cats cradle, pavement art (chalks), story time, tennis.
We have a wide range of equipment which children use individually or in groups such as balls, target games, football and goals, giant Jenga/draughts/snakes and ladders, chalks.

As a result of the continued support from our parents who collected several 'Tescos Sports Equipment Vouchers', we have recently been able to purchase some french skipping ropes, 'catch gloves', goal nets and footballs.

The School Council wrote to our local Waitrose store in Billericay, telling them about the Playground Project planned for Sunnymede Infant School. Waitrose, Billericay kindly donated £50 towards this, and the school have purchased three 'giant-sized' games of snakes & ladders, dominoes and a number game, plus two pairs of binoculars. Sunnymede School would like to thank Waitrose Billericay for their kind donation.
All children come back into school at 12.55 and take part in a 10 minute 'Activate' session led by the class MDA. This involves low impact movements which raises the heart rate, 'wakes up' both sides of the brain and helps develop physical mobility: preparing the children for learning in the afternoon session.
Once the hot weather arrives the hall will be used as the First Aid room as well as the cool down room for those children who get over-heated.
A number of children have particular responsibilities during the lunchtime periods. The children are very proud to have been awarded these 'jobs' and take them very seriously. At the moment these are: Equipment helpers, Energy savers, Door lockers/shutters, MDA helpers.
We have also recently had new 'playground markings' painted on the playground, which are already proving to be very popular.

Lunchtime Clubs
During the Summer Term lunchtime clubs will take on a new format. Clubs will be held outside on Tuesdays and will run for 30 minutes. Teachers will work with groups of children doing a range of activities.
