50th Birthday Celebrations

Sunnymede Primary School opened 50 years ago this September. To mark this special event the Infant and Junior Schools held a Golden Day on Friday 26th September. The children baked and iced special cakes and we held a tea party in the school hall. Parents who came to Sunnymede as pupils were also invited to our tea party and afterwards, they kindly went into the classes to answer questions that the children had prepared about 'what school was like for them'.

Recycle & Resell

Thank you to everyone who contributed toys and or bought toys during our recent recycling and reselling of unwanted toys. We raised a total of £133.20 in 25 minutes!

Our aim was to show the children the value of money. The children donated their unwanted toys, books or games which they priced at either 50p, £1 or £2. The children were able to buy them during an after school sale in the school hall.

The money will be divided equally into each class. Each class will then decided how they can multiply their earnings.

The total money raised by the end of this academic year will be put towards a reward for the whole school.

Following our production we asked the audience to make a donation for ‘Little Havens Children’s Hospice. Miss Payne and Mrs Murphy also braved cold and difficult conditions and ran 6 kms and 5 kms respectively in the ‘Little Havens’ sponsored ‘Santa’s on the Run.’ Thanks to everyone’s generous donations the school raised £292.00.

Cerena, a Little Haven’s Representative, came into school and spoke to the children in an assembly and explained what happens in the hospice and what the money would be used for.
