Sunnymede Infant School Newletter

June 2009

In September Miss Payne will be moving on to teach in a school in Germany . She has been a very valued member of our team for  6 years and she will be greatly missed by all the staff and children. We wish her the best of luck in her exciting new post!

We have been busy interviewing teachers to come and work with us in September. We had a considerable number of applicants and  interviewed a high calibre of teachers. We are very pleased to have appointed Miss Sarah Macgill. She will be joining us for open evening on 8th July.

Lunchbox reminders

Please remember that nut products are not allowed in lunchboxes.

We have recently noticed that Tracker bars contain nuts. This is not immediately obvious from the packet.

We need your help!

We have recently bought some wonderful new equipment for the Reception outdoor area. Mr Evans is going to install it in the next couple of weeks (they need to be concreted in) but  he really needs someone to help him with this as the items are quite large and bulky. If you could spare a few hours to help with this please contact the school office.

Open Evening

A reminder that this will be on the evening of Wednesday 8th July between 6pm and 8pm. You will have the opportunity to look at the work all around the school and your child can introduce you to their new teacher.

Please note – all lost property will be laid out on tables in the hall for re-claiming.  Anything not claimed after this date will be put towards our re-cycling initiative next term.  Watch this space......

We will be sending the end of year report for every child home on Monday 13th July. Please complete and return the reply slip to confirm you have received it.

Poetry competition winners

Children in the year 2 classes had the opportunity to enter an acrostic poetry competition recently. The competition was open to schools across Essex and many of our children have been successful in having their poems chosen to be published in the collected works. Well done to all of them on their hard work. You can read some of the poems below.

Dragons

Dragon flies through the air

Rain comes and splashes him

Angrily, he sits on a cloud, but then he falls and hits the ground

Going to the castle beside him

Oh, there’s a knight! Let’s eat him!

Never come back again

Snakes! Oh no, not fighting again!

Mia Riches (7) – Sunnymede Infant School

Dragons

Dragons are fierce and dangerous

Run and scream, but try not to shout!

Annoying dragons are silly

Get a dragon off you if it is on you

On a rocky hill you might see a dragon!

Now it has gone

Jamie-Lee Saunders – Sunnymede Infant School

Dragons

Dragons fly like the wind

Racing through the clouds like a bolt of lightning

Anxious knights who come up against dragons are often eaten

Grunting at people, making them afraid to fight them

Old dragons don’t survive for long

Noisy dragons flying everywhere

Swiping the knights to get to the gold
